Important Note: If you are registering after February 28th, please plan to bring your own food. Due to catering restrictions, we have to place meal orders early. We hope you will still attend the camp!
Graduate Student Dissertation & Thesis Writing Camp—Spring 2025
Join your fellow graduate students in this self-paced writing event and make a serious dent in your thesis or dissertation. Lunch*, light refreshments, and information sessions about library and writing resources will be provided. This event is graciously hosted by the Marriott Library and Graduate School.
Agenda
The Gould Auditorium will be a writing cafe (non-quiet space), and the Graduate Reading Room will be a quiet writing space. Librarians will be at the Gould entrance for the duration to answer your questions. Optional workshops will be offered in Rooms 1170 and 1150; however, you are welcome to use the workshop times to write. Unless otherwise indicated, activities will occur in the Gould Auditorium.

In this workshop, Trista Emmer will introduce you to the Word Template for theses and dissertations. She'll go over the tools within the template and how to both write directly into the template and copy/paste materials written elsewhere. If you want to ensure that your manuscript is formatted correctly and easily, don't miss this workshop. |

This workshop will go over the use of the LaTeX thesis/dissertation template. While it will cover some basic information for anyone using the LaTeX template, it will focus primarily on meeting students where they are currently at in the process. The scholarly research and publication processes generate a lot of information that can be difficult to organize and remember. Citation managers such as EndNote can help you stay on top of things and save time when used appropriately. This workshop will help you learn key features of EndNote in order to create and manage your citations and references. At the end of the class you will be able to: 1) Create and set-up an EndNote Desktop library 2) Add references to your library via multiple methods 3) Use the Cite-While-You-Write plug-in for Microsoft Word or Google Docs to add citations to your manuscript 4) Know where to go with questions |
